They’ve almost succeeded.Īn hour of pre-release Dungeons 3 gameplay! Dungeons 3 is now here, and has tried to perfect things.
Dungeons 2 hued closer to the classic formula, while adding an overworld played like an RTS with their own spin on it, which also didn’t truly succeed since it lacked the polish of a real RTS. Dungeons 1 stuck with dungeon management and tried to put a spin on it and, while fun, didn’t truly succeed.
The Dungeons series from Realmforge is a generally delightful attempt to recreate and best the Dungeon Keeper formula, putting you in the role of an evil overlord managing his own dungeon while trying to destroy the forces of evil. To be honest, it’s a thing that can be easily fixed and now with the release of the complete collection, I really hope the developers will add it in the future. They say third time’s the charm. You can zoom out a tiny bit but then it’s just big enough to see a particular part but not the whole thing, you know. Dungeon view: One particular thing that really annoyed me, is that you can’t zoom all the way out so you have a nice overview onyour dungeon.Yet, I don’t really find it an issue since the game is brought in a fun and humoristic way, which makes up for the whole issue. Building a dungeon, defending it and conquering the world. Repetitive: It’s not really a big issue, but after a while the game can get somewhat repetitive, since you are basically doing constantly the same thing. And for me the type of humor that they used in the game made me want to play more and more. The game almost never gets boring, which is a good thing. They are constantly mocking themselves and always making fun of things they can make fun of. Humor: The last thing that really stands out is the humor that the developers have put into the game. But maintaining the dungeon is fun and with every new chapter in the story, you learn new aspects which makes your dungeon even stronger. You play as Thalya, who has fallen to evil and now runs a dungeon (story in a nutshell). If not, go get familiar with it because it’s really enjoyable. Story: The base game has been around for a while now so I’m sure most of the readers are familiar with the story of the game.Of course, the game has been around for a couple of years already, and the developers had enough time to take all the flaws out of the game. The style that it is designed in is really appealing and from what I experienced while playing, there is absolutely no lag in the game or whatsoever. Graphics: In addition to the voice-acting, another aspect that made the game appealing is the graphics. The developers made the right choice to make it fully spoken since there is a lot of text piecing the game together and if you had to read all of it you would probably have given up after chapter one (well at least me). The voices fit the style of the game and more important than that, they fit the characters. Also, all the other characters that have lines in the game are done well. The narrator takes you literally on a story through the campaign and does this in a really funny way. Voice-acting: One of the best things about this game is that it’s fully voice-acted.
